Thou Art Slain, O Monster!

A beastly summer cold has been terrorizing our household since last Thursday. But, the buck stops here, Mister! I WILL defeat the beast and stay healthy!!! I felt it's puny, miserable assault last night, but today I feel normal. I shall prevail!!!

Some kid bit Cooper in the face at school today. Yes, bit him in the face.

Dealing with stuff like this is part of a parent's job. Dealing with it in the right way can be tough. Emotions and all that stuff-- they can cloud the judgment. This image represents my emotions upon hearing what had happened. If I had actually been there, I know I would have kept my head, but hearing it over the phone adds a distance that magnifies the feeling of helplessness at not being able to do anything-- not even comfort Cooper. So, the (normal, I think) feeling of anger had extra fuel supplied by the feeling of helplessness. I was QUITE ANGRY! But, after awhile, the anger subsided. It's hard to justify wanting to strangle a 3 year old kid for very long. Still, that kind of behavior has to be snuffed out early.

It was sort of synchronistic that I had a documentary about psychopaths running in the background while I was working at the time I got the call. Did you know that, in Great Britain at least, a child CANNOT be diagnosed as a psychopath or as having a personality disorder? I guess that, if the monster is a kid, we somehow hold out hope that he can change. (It doesn't seem to be the case, though). Anyway, the little person at Cooper's school probably isn't a psychopath. Probably.

Oh, and I'm not either.

I dedicate this gentle visual taunt to "Anonymous" who left a comment on last Wednesday's post. Rest easy, friends, the woodcut/scratchboard look is probably just a phase. Don't freak out! Experimenting with different styles can only help me improve as an artist.

Happy Father's Day

This is something Cooper and I created together. It started out as a scan of a paper napkin.

Skin Deep

Sometimes it's best not to look too deeply into things (unless one is prepared to face some uncomfortable truths).

This is part of what was a much larger drawing. It's really pretty bad, isn't it? Sorry you had to look at it.

The Girls

We adopted a couple doggies this past weekend. They're a mother/daughter pair. They are really affectionate and good with the kids.

It almost feels like it's too soon after Pepper's passing, but I think it will work out. They are a good fit.

I read a really disturbing article on Cryptogon.com this morning about genetically modified (GM) foods. The original article appears at Seedsofdeception.com

I'd recommend reading the whole thing (it's not that long). And, if you don't have time to read it, but you do think that GM foods are potentially dangerous, then you can download a Pocket Non-GMO Shopping Guide from the Institute for Responsible Technology here.

He forgot his watch! I didn't, though. It's 5:58pm! Stupid alien.

I Know What You're Thinking...

...You're thinking, "I'd like to wear a T-shirt/sweatshirt with this design on it!" Or, possibly, "I sure wish I could have this on a coffee cup!" Maybe even, "What I wouldn't give for a messenger bag emblazoned with this image!"

Well, my friends, today's your lucky day. Click HERE to order things of that nature. Be the first on your block to own one!

Elixir of Life

I do covet thee, O bitter brown. Thy loving heat doth sustain, and thy chemical makeup doth stoke greatly the guttering flame of this, mine frail constitution. Thou dost bear me up.

Please, Come In..

Hey, I've started a second blog called "Kenny's Kloset" where I can put "Family-Unfriendly" images! Oh boy! Get ready to cringe and vomit!

There's a link over there on the right. Enjoy.

Self Portrait?

Maybe I'll look like this when I'm older. I don't think I'll be so sinister, though.

Do Easy

DE is a way of doing. It is a way of doing everything you do. DE simply means doing whatever you do in the easiest most relaxed way you can manage which is also the quickest and most efficient way, as you will find as you advance in DE.

You can start right now tidying up your flat, moving furniture or books, washing dishes, making tea, sorting papers. Consider the weight of objects exactly how much force is needed to get the object from here to there. Consider its shape and texture and function where exactly does it belong. Use just the amount of force necessary to get the object from here to there. Don't fumble, jerk, grab an object. Drop cool possessive fingers onto it like a gentle old cop making a soft arrest. Guide the dustpan lightly to the floor as if you were landing a plane. When you touch an object weigh it with your fingers, feel your fingers on the object, the skin, blood, muscles, tendons of you hand and arm. Consider these extensions of yourself...(continued)

Nearly Sprung

Spring is passing us by...

Catch him if you can!

OK... I Guess I Was Wrong.

You know the type: anything that you say (and I mean anything) must be challenged/corrected/augmented.
