I have yet to test this hypothesis, but my guess is that if you have to deliver bad news it won't reflect as badly on you if you do it from a prone position.

That makes sense.
Lying prone is the best position for recipients of bad news, too.
I have to agree with Dominic's suggestion, it all depends on what position the recipient is in. And to return to politics...how do you figure Mr. Bush receives his news?
