Santa Claus
Kids see right through it...They know it's a stranger in a costume...They know the fraud that's being perpetrated on them...but MomDad says it's real, so...Better play along...Cognitive dissonance...And, sooner or later they start to believe it, too...They make the emotional investment...They buy in to the game and then forget they're playing...

focus your sense of wonder on him...
haha, oh man. yeah i'm glad someone else kinda has the same opinion as me on the whole santa thing. if i had a kid i don't think i can give him/her that whole santa trip. i mean, christ, you make em believe this lie, and you know it's a lie, and then they eventually have to stop believing in santa cos it's a lie & "grow out of it". yikes what a MESS!
Jack- Even though I feel this way to an extent, I still go through the motions with the kids. It's still kind of fun. Just because I'm a jaded cynic doesn't mean they have to be...yet.
Barbara- Thanks! Welcome aboard. Comment any time. It's always nice to know you're out there, and I appreciate the feedback!
