Not Quite On Hold

This is about those times when you're on the phone with someone, and they are doing something like looking up information on a computer, and they don't put you on hold, but they are no longer speaking, so you can hear them breathing and muttering to themselves-- and it's right in your ear. It's a little more intimate than I care to be with most people.

A Day at the Beach

When I have time to read the paper, I can usually find an image that begs to be altered. I mean, LOOK at all that (formerly) empty space in the picture! What choice did I have?

Pepper

Our dog Pepper, who you long-time Kenny's Korner visitors might remember from this post a couple years ago, has an aggressive form of cancer. We're probably going to have to have her put to sleep tomorrow before her suffering becomes too much for her to bear.

This morning Pepper was standing in the living room, and our two cockatiels were flying around getting their morning exercise, when Frosty (Frosty is almost totally white) lost one of his feathers and it floated down and landed right on Pepper's back.

It was heartbreaking and beautiful. I'm going to miss her so much.

Update: She actually seems a little better today. It's a close call, but she's still with us.

Her chest X-ray from Saturday showed a lot of fluid buildup in her chest cavity, which is making it difficult for her to breathe. The vet said that a lot of dogs with a chest X-ray like that wouldn't even be able to get up and walk. So, since she was still acting fairly normal, he prescribed a diuretic to try to flush out some of the fluid, and hopefully buy her a little more time. It could be that it's taken this long for it to have a noticeable effect.

So, we're thankful for whatever time she has left. And, thank you for your kind words and thoughts.

T.G.I.F

I have this 1' x 3' piece of illustration board on my desk that I've been adding random doodles to over the course of a few weeks. Here is a small section of it (altered a bit in Photoshop).
Happy Friday.

Fees Cease

Aren't you tired of always having to pay fees? A fee for this; a fee for that!

ENOUGH!

Wherever you are, no matter who's around, stand up, and at the top of your lungs yell, "FEES CEASE!!!"

Do it now! DO IT!!!

(More) Tales of the Unexplained

Sorry for the hastily done image, but who cares?  It's the story that counts this time.

I got home this evening just before 7pm, and no one else was here, so I decided to go outside and pull some weeds in the front yard before it got dark.  I came inside at about 8pm, and discovered that my lava lamp was on.

The weird thing about it is that the "lava" was still in that "brain" stage that occurs about 5-10 minutes after you switch the lamp on, and that only lasts about 10-15 minutes before it gets all blobby.   So, somehow the lamp was turned on when no one was in the house.

Creepy.

Irritant

Sometimes, you don't notice the irritant. You just feel the irritation.

Totally Beside the Point

I was watching this video yesterday, and while it was very interesting (and I admired that Max Keiser fella's spunk) I couldn't help being fascinated by the French guy's hairstyle. So, I drew this as I listened, but then when Frenchie said, "difficulties" at one point, I had to mock his pronunciation. Sorry. I'm a juvenile delinquent.

"Dee-fecal-tees." Ha ha ha!!!

There Must Be...

This has nothing to do with the drawing (or maybe it does, now that I think about it) but for some reason, and I know I've mentioned it before, Blogger's comment moderation feature doesn't tell me that I have any comments to moderate until there are 4 of them. And, for some reason, when I have 4, they tell me I have 1, and when I have 8, they tell me I have 2. So, 4=1. This happens without fail, so don't think I'm ignoring you, fair patrons. In fact, your comments (and caffeine) are my lifeblood. Don't cut me off!!!
